Applied Technology Commercialization Program (UTTP) has been in operation in Turkey since 2013 with the cooperation of Bilkent Cyberpark, TTGV and University of Texas at Austin. UTTP is the first and the most comprehensive technology commercialization certification program in Turkey and the winners receive a one week hands-on training camp in Austin /TX

The winners of 2014 UTTP have spent a very fruitful week in Austin, meeting technology transfer authorities, experienced investors, academicians and leaders of the ecosystem. They also got the chance of testing the waters for their technology commercialization strategy.

This year, the UTTP has awarded more than a bootcamp for its winners. The award-week also included a golden pass to the U.S’s leading event SouthbySouthwest Festival (SXSW). UTTP winners were invited as panellists and as the only Turkish panellists of the entire festival, they have waved the Turkish Flag during the session “Turkey: The Leader of Developing Innovation Ecosystem”.

The panel included Seda Ölmez Çakar (TTGV), Ceren Aslan (ODTÜ Teknokent), Bestem Büyüm (Kimola) and Canan Çakmakcı (Bilkent Cyberpark ) served as the moderator.

Panellist underlined the importance Turkey has placed on innovation and entrepreneurship in the last 20 years and gave supporting examples and discussed policies from different perspectives.   The panel was followed by a very active question and answer session.  The Audience bombarded the panellists with comments and questions, mostly agreeing on that Turkey has accomplished more that what other countries have dreamt of and that its story needs to be told more and louder. The last comment of the session, regarding the proud picture drawn by 4 ladies presenting the Turkey innovation ecosystem received a great applause from the entire audience.
