Dr. Emrah Alkaya began working in Technology Development Foundation of Turkey (TTGV) in December 2008 as an assistant expert and has been serving to TTGV as an expert since January 2010. He graduated from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering. He received his Master’s degree and Ph.D. from the same department in 2008 and 2013 respectively. Before beginning his career in TTGV he served as a research assistant for the METU Department of Environmental Engineering between the years 2006-2008. In 2008, he worked at the TEMPO Engineers and Consultancy Ltd. on biological wastewater treatment systems modeling and solid waste management system design. His areas of expertise cover the development and management of projects/programs related to resource efficiency, waste valorization, sustainable consumption/production and green entrepreneurship which include: (i) management of financial support programmes for R&D and demonstration projects, (ii) technical support/ consultancy for manufacturing enterprises (iii) development of national strategies/policies (iv) network management and (v) mentorship and equity investment for start-up companies. He was actively involved in more than 15 national/international projects/ programmes either as a researcher or an expert/manager. As of 2014, he led publishing of 13 scientific articles in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, 11 of which were among SCI/SCI Expanded indexed journals. Many of his studies were published as conference proceedings/presentations as well as a book chapter. He received more than 50 citations from articles published in SCI/SCI-expanded indexed journals until 2014. He is currently serving as a peer-reviewer for several SCI/SCI Expanded indexed international journals.
