Sanem Yalcintas Gulbas was born in 1977. She graduated from Dogan College (Istanbul) in 1988, and from Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School in 1995. After graduating with honors from the Department of Food Engineering at Hacettepe University in 1999, she started working as a Research Assistant at the same department. While she was studying on her master thesis, she got interested in Information Technologies and completed “Information Technologies Certificate Programme” at Middle East Technical University (METU) where she found the opportunity to take 8 fundamental courses on Computer Sciences. She decided to pursue further degree in this field and completed her second masters in Information Technologies in 2004; being one of the first graduates of Informatics Institute at METU. In 2006, she was awarded with “Seligman APV Fellowship in Food Engineering” - a scholarship funded by Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) and open to worldwide competition-, and received her doctorate degree in food engineering, in 2007. After several years experience in academy and later on in private sector; she took part in the foundation of Hacettepe University Technology Transfer Center, in 2009; where she is still working as the Vice GM, today. She has also been serving as an Expert Evaluator and Reviewer to the European Commission since 2010, under different programmes such as FP7, CIP and EUROSTARS.
